Why Such a Stinky Topic?
Hold onto your leashes, Reno! We’re digging deep with our newest community brand campaign — and trust us, it’s quite literally our crapiest one yet! Introducing Operation #2 “They Poop, You Scoop” campaign, brought to you by the Downtown Reno Partnership, designed to make our city cleaner, fresher, and way less crappy.
We were given the challenging task of creating a campaign that’s memorable, snarky, and honestly speaks for the pets and that nosy neighbor who’s been mother-henning you about the mess. Our goal? Promote responsible pet ownership by encouraging all doggos’ humans to pick up after their pups because one man’s poop is another downtown community’s problem.
What’s the Scoop?
From eye-catching design and cheeky copywriting to wayfinding signage and an all-in-one digital toolkit, this campaign covers all the bases. We’ve launched bright, bold yard signs that are impossible to miss (trust us, you’ll be hit with puns sharper than a terrier’s teeth).
The campaign lives online, too, serving as a one-stop hub for everything you need to know about pet waste rules and how to keep Downtown Reno looking like the jewel it is, rather than a giant dog-park landfill.
The Poop on the Law
Did you know? Washoe County says scooping isn’t just polite; it’s the law! Leaving your pup’s “presents” behind can cost you up to $500 in fines. That’s enough to buy a whole lotta dog treats (or a really fancy pooper scooper). So please, carry a poop bag — or you’ll be in the doghouse for real.
Where to Drop the Goods
Dog waste bags are conveniently available at dispensers along Virginia Street and the Riverwalk, and there are nearly 200 trash cans throughout downtown. That’s right plenty of places to pitch that poop. And if you’re a local business, keep an eye out for the blue paw prints declaring you a proud participant in the “Pick Up After Your Pup” squad.
Social Media That’s Unleashed
We’re not just tossing signs around — we’ve unleashed a pack of social media posts featuring bold typography, cheeky dog illustrations, and pun-filled taglines like:
- “Wag More, Waste Less”
- “Who will pick up the poop today? Spoiler alert: It should be YOU!”
- “Are you a Scooper or a Slipper? Take the quiz!”
