Apprentices will be supported by two dedicated mentors and a Creative Director throughout the program, receiving hands-on experience and professional guidance.

Program Duration & Commitment:

• 30-day / 40-hour introductory program
• Option to extend to 90 days / 120 hours
• Paid apprenticeship
• Minimum 10-15 hours per week

• Personal mentorship from two industry professionals and oversight from creative leaders
• One-year membership in AAF or AD2 for networking opportunities

• Attend 1 networking event (1 hour)
• Participate in 1 volunteer event (1 hour)
• Support a photoshoot (1 hour)
• Attend a press interview
• Hands-on support with WordPress or CMS platforms
• Introductory blog layout design and content upload
• Assist with social media content creation, scheduling, and posting

Apprentices will learn effective team communication using:

• Designated email accounts
• Slack channels
• Client portals
• Other key creative industry software

About the Role

Design on Edge is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Marketing and PR apprentice to join our creative team. This internship offers hands-on experience supporting marketing campaigns, public relations efforts, and digital media management for our clients and brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, submit, and coordinate press releases and event announcements with local and national media outlets
• Develop engaging blog content and assist with website research and updates (WordPress experience helpful)
• Manage social media accounts by writing, scheduling, and monitoring posts across platforms
• Assist in coordinating and promoting marketing and PR events and experiences
• Help organize deliveries, pickups, and event logistics as needed
• Accompany guests to news interviews and liaise with media contacts
• Create media recap reports summarizing press coverage and outcomes
• Collaborate with team members to ensure consistent branding and messaging
• Stay up-to-date on marketing trends and emerging media opportunities
• Juggle multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently
• Continuously seek opportunities to grow skills and industry knowledge

Qualifications

• Some experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or related fields (1-2 years preferred but not required)
• Passion for authentic and creative writing
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer, Later)
• Basic understanding of WordPress for blog and event content updates
• Good organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects
• Positive, proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow professionally
• Comfortable communicating via phone, email, and text with clients and media
• Customer service experience a plus
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment
• Ability to adapt and perform under pressure

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

• Degree or coursework in marketing, communications, or a related field
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
• Basic design skills and familiarity with Canva
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign) or similar digital editing tools
